The launch for the much awaited next generation MINI
Cooper is getting closer. The 2014 MINI Cooper has been spotted camouflaged,
which reveals new exterior elements of the two-door hatchback. The changes are
significant compared to its predecessor but the overall stance of the hatchback
remains the same. The sports hatchback gets treated with modern styling
elements like the LED corona daytime running lamps, inspired from the 2011 Rocket
man concept. The front grille has been revised in order to give it a more
rounded look, which integrates the bumper neatly in matte black finish....
Overall, the front fascia now
looks more rounded and retro, which appears to be slightly longer than its
predecessor to match with the latest pedestrian safety regulations. The
windshield is slightly raked now and continues with the similar sporty roofline,
tipped with a chunky new spoiler. The rear end gets an updated tail lamp
cluster which has grown big in size to blend with the new design language. On
the interiors we can expect considerable changes to make it look more stylish.
The 2014 MINI Cooper is said to be ditching the center mounted speedometer.
Instead, the speedometer will be placed conventionally behind the steering
wheel....
Expect the new MINI to be high on
latest gadgetry trickling down from BMW models. The new MINI Cooper is likely
to use the same front engine, front wheel drive UKL architecture shared with
the upcoming BMW 1 Series GT and Active Toured MPV. The entire MINI Cooper
family will be moving to an all three-cylinder lineup featuring a twin-scroll
turbo, direct injection and variable valve timing, producing between 121 to 210
HP. The 2014 MINI is likely to be unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show in
September.....
